Iran, with a scientific, technological and rich cultural record, recognizing the importance and role of science and technology parks in the economic, social, cultural and political developments of the nations has attempted to establish science and technology parks in the recent years and has put the responsibility of achieving to the above mentioned goals on the shoulders of the science and technology parks.
The pivotal slogan of the fourth economic, social and cultural program of the country is a knowledge-based development. Producing customer-oriented knowledge and transferring it to the realm of technology are from the basic necessities in other to perform this knowledge-based program. This enterprise and achievement to the objectives of the program undoubtedly require a national effort and enthusiasm and policy makers in the management domain should create the motivation and enthusiasm and provide required infrastructures and tools. Science and technology parks as one of the infrastructure factors and as a tool in this field can have an important role to play. Support the creation and development of small and medium knowledge-based companies, technical development, access to the target markets and capture and development of it, constructive interaction with actors in the fields of production and employment, entrepreneurs in industry and university and playing a constructive role in local and regional networks and even global are among the important duties that science and technology parks can do.
Science and Technology Park of East Azarbaijan province takes pride in serving as a member of a series of the Parks of the country that can take effective steps in the development of the Islamic nation, its future and its future young generations.
In order to achieve the above objectives, the present program which is the result of the sever efforts of the management group and experts of the Science and Technology Park of East Azarbaijan has been prepared based on the following items:
This program avoiding prophecy and making inaccessible predictions has attempted to build the program on the base of the existing realities, facilities and experiences of the past few years of the Park. Hopefully at the end of the 5-year program we will have a set of knowledge-based units and through creating of a competitive market for the units settled in the Park and bringing them to the realm of the country economy we will develop science and technology clusters. No doubt this attitude will make a dynamic economy. The expectation is that at the end of the program we will totally have about 463 innovative units supported by the technology Parks and they will have their growth process during this period. Undoubtedly the development of these technology units will bring about a great change in the technology development of the province. Take into account that the entrance of nearly 400 innovative units to the realm of the province and region economy will have a worth that is more than ten times of the value of constructing the same number of factories and workshops.
